At the All-Ukrainian August Conference of Educators "New Ukrainian School: Start of the Reform, Participation of the Communities", President Petro Poroshenko stressed the inadmissibility of delaying the implementation of education reform and appealed to the Government and local authorities to ensure full logistical support for the project "New Ukrainian School".
“Taking into account the absolute importance of education for our state, I, as President, consider it totally inadmissible to delay the realization of the tasks set. It is very important for regional administrations, councils, community associations and executive committees to resolve the issues of logistics as soon as possible, especially concerning the New Ukrainian School. It is a pride to be involved in this ambitious project,” the President said.
"You should not pay yourself a premium. Allocate this money for education. New schools and kindergartens, new furniture, new computers, new learning technologies will eventually give you an opportunity to see new students," Petro Poroshenko stressed.
The President shared his impressions from what he saw at the exhibition, where samples of furniture, teaching aids and other material and technical equipment of classes were presented.
"Remember that three or four years ago they did not know where to sell them. Money was not allocated for schools. I highly recommend to look at this exhibition not only to educators. It is very important that journalists saw it - they saw wonderful samples of the latest equipment for classes," the President said.
"This is not a dream of our teachers, students and parents. This is already the beginning of the implementation of the New Ukrainian School. I have every reason to assert it. Because the state has now allocated a substantial resource. More than a billion hryvnias," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
At the same time, the President said that there were problems with the material provision of schools, namely - the means of educational subvention are not used by local authorities in full.
"My friends, how do you call it? If you lag for a year, this year will be wasted for new Ukrainian first-graders. I emphasize that there is no excuse for that," the Head of State said. He appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Education to keep this issue under control.
